The Isometric Standard sets the requirements for certificates representing measurable climate impact, covering both carbon removal and greenhouse gas reductions.
The policies governing how Isometric operates, and how we align with external regulatory and voluntary schemes.
These policies set out how Isometric operates and issues certificates with integrity and rigor.
The Carbon Removals and Carbon Farming (CRCF) Regulation establishes the first EU-wide voluntary framework for certifying carbon removals, carbon farming, and carbon storage in products. It distinguishes between "carbon farming", "temporary carbon storage" in long-lasting products, and "permanent carbon removal."
Certified removals must meet a set of quality criteria covering quantification, additionality, long-term storage, and sustainability. These policies set out how Isometric will operate as a Certification Scheme, effectively an EU authorized registry, under the CRCF.
You can find more information in the CRCF section of the Isometric Standard and Isometric's CRCF protocols for Permanent Carbon Removal on the Isometric Registry.
The Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (CORSIA) is a global market-based mechanism regulated by ICAO, the UN agency for international civil aviation, designed to address emissions growth from international aviation.
Airlines are required to use certificates to cover increases in their emissions above a declining baseline.
These policies set out the processes suppliers and insurers must follow for certificates to be eligible under CORSIA.
The Integrity Council for the Voluntary Carbon Market (ICVCM) is an independent, non-profit governance body that sets and maintains a global quality threshold for the voluntary carbon market.
The threshold rests on ten science-based Core Carbon Principles (CCPs) and is implemented through the CCP Assessment Framework, which defines what "high quality" means by reference to those principles.
