ICVCM approves Isometric’s Reforestation Protocol

All credits issued under v1.1 now eligible to use CCP label

Today, Isometric's Reforestation Protocol received approval from the Integrity Council for the Voluntary Carbon Market (ICVCM) to issue credits with the Core Carbon Principles (CCP) label. This means all credits issued under version 1.1 can now carry one of the market's clearest independent signals of quality.

Reforestation was Isometric's first protocol for nature-based carbon removal, released in 2024. Since then, we've expanded this portfolio to include Improved Forest Management, Mangrove Restoration, and Agroforestry. Today's ICVCM approval marks another milestone, making Reforestation our first nature-based protocol to carry the CCP label.

Twenty carbon removal suppliers have signed up to issue credits under the Reforestation Protocol. This includes leading suppliers such as re.green, which is working to restore one million hectares of the Amazon and Atlantic forests, and Living Carbon, which is using innovative reforestation techniques to restore degraded mining and agricultural land.

Miguel Moraes, Director of Projects at re.green, said:

“ICVCM's approval of Isometric's Reforestation Protocol is excellent news for all of us working to transform degraded land across Brazil's Amazon and Atlantic forests into thriving native ecosystems. Innovative approaches and new methodologies are important to strengthen the Voluntary Carbon Market. The CCP label gives buyers a clear signal that the credits will meet an important independent benchmark for quality, supporting our ability to deliver high-quality reforestation at scale.”

Maddie Hall, CEO & Co-founder of Living Carbon, said:

"The CCP label provides buyers with a benchmark for high-quality carbon removal. For Living Carbon, ICVCM's approval of Isometric's Reforestation Protocol confirms that credits from our projects meet recognized standards for transparency, additionality, and quantification as we work to restore degraded land across the U.S., while generating income for landowners and bringing back biodiversity."

As of today, seven Isometric protocols can now use the CCP label, spanning engineered and nature-based carbon removal technologies, further cementing our position as the leading certifier for high-quality carbon removal.

ICVCM approval follows an independent assessment confirming that each protocol meets all ten Core Carbon Principles, including permanence, additionality, transparency, independent verification, and robust quantification.

For buyers, the CCP label signals credits that meet ICVCM's benchmark, simplifying procurement decisions. For suppliers, it helps unlock demand by demonstrating rigor, transparency, and quality.
