Today, Isometric issued its first carbon dioxide removal (CDR) credits with the Core Carbon Principles (CCP) label. This milestone follows the Integrity Council for the Voluntary Carbon Market (ICVCM) approving v1.0 of Isometric’s Biochar Production and Storage Protocol.
These credits are the world’s first industrial biochar credits to receive the CCP label. They were issued to Charm Industrial on August 4, with the label applied today when the approval was formally announced.
The decision by ICVCM follows a rigorous, independent assessment, that confirmed the Biochar Protocol meets all ten CCPs—including permanence, additionality, transparency, independent verification, and robust quantification.
Isometric works with more than 25 leading biochar suppliers—including Carboneers, Charm Industrial, and Pacific Biochar—and, from today, credits issued under Isometric’s protocol are eligible to use the label.
