Isometric has signed its 200th project developer, SDI Biocarbon Solutions, a subsidiary of major US steel producer Steel Dynamics, Inc., and one of a growing number of industrial companies bringing large-scale infrastructure to carbon removal.
Certification is what makes a project's carbon claim sellable, turning it into an independently verified certificate that buyers can trust. In under a year, the number of project developers choosing Isometric certification has grown from 100 to more than 200. They operate in 42 countries and across dozens of technologies, spanning carbon removal, emissions reduction, and low-carbon materials. This range gives buyers a wide choice of high-quality certificates, all held to the same scientifically rigorous standard.
That growth increasingly includes large industrial companies. Resource management company Cory Group, energy-from-waste operator Enfinium, and mining group Anglo American are all certifying projects with Isometric, applying existing sites, feedstock supply, and engineering capacity to carbon removal. This capacity is being built ahead of demand expected to rise sharply in the 2030s. The European Commission has proposed procuring 250 million tonnes of carbon removal by 2040, and the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) is expected to require companies to counterbalance residual emissions with durable removals.
SDI Biocarbon Solutions operates one of the world's largest renewable biocarbon production facilities in Columbus, Mississippi. Commissioned in 2025 and representing more than $300 million of investment, the facility converts PEFC-certified woody biomass into biocarbon and is expected to produce more than 200,000 tonnes of biocarbon annually.
Its biocarbon will directly replace anthracite coal in Steel Dynamics' steelmaking, a substitution the company expects to reduce Scope 1 emissions at its mills once fully deployed. The facility is also expected to produce biogenic co-products, including a biocarbon stream intended for agricultural and horticultural use, which will generate carbon removal certificates under the Biochar Production and Storage Protocol, using Certify, Isometric's AI-powered certification platform.

Industrial and nature-based carbon removal developers are different in many ways, but when it comes to certification they want the same thing: scientific rigor that buyers trust, at a pace that delivers the revenue they need to scale. That is what has driven Isometric's growth this year.
