Isometric and Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL), one of the world’s largest shipping companies, have entered into a strategic partnership under which Isometric will issue scientifically rigorous, transparent carbon dioxide removal (CDR) credits to support MOL’s net zero strategy.

MOL is a leader in advancing carbon removal in the shipping sector and is targeting net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.

The partnership—which includes Isometric’s selection as the registry for MOL’s milestone 10,000-tonne Enhanced Weathering offtake with Alt Carbon—will provide MOL with access to high-quality carbon removal credits certified under the Isometric Standard.

“High-quality carbon removal credits are a key part of MOL’s strategy to address residual emissions on the path to net zero. We are pleased to partner with Isometric to achieve this, underpinned by their rigorous and transparent approach to verification,” said Daisuke Fujihashi, General Manager of the Carbon Solution Development Unit at MOL.

This partnership underscores both the growing demand for transparent, scientifically rigorous carbon removal and Isometric’s position as the registry of choice in the Japanese market. MOL is setting the pace for decarbonization strategies in the shipping sector, and we look forward to supporting them on their journey to net zero emissions.
