Winsome Resources selects Isometric as preferred carbon registry

Agreement to advance carbon removal at the Renard Mine

Isometric has been selected as the preferred carbon registry by Winsome Resources, who are exploring mining based carbon dioxide removal (CDR) solutions at the Renard mining operation in Quebec, Canada. Winsome Resources aims to enable multiple CDR suppliers to pilot and scale their technologies by utilizing the mine's by-products as feedstock.

Arca is the first supplier to participate. Arca intends to implement a project that aligns with Isometric’s Open System Ex-Situ Mineralization (OSEM) protocol, making it eligible for credit generation.

Under this partnership, Isometric will serve as the project registry, offering monitoring, reporting, and verification (MRV) services for CDR projects at the Renard mine. This is the first time a mining operator has selected a registry to verify carbon removals.

Other participating CDR suppliers include Exterra Carbon Solutions and Aquarry. These suppliers plan to pilot mineralization carbon removal technologies at the Renard operation, utilizing both mining wastes and mining waste water sources as feedstocks.

This collaboration represents a step forward in integrating CDR technologies into the mining industry. Mining operations offer unique opportunities for scaling CDR, leveraging the by-products and the operational capabilities of these sites.

Isometric and Winsome Resources are committed to unlocking the potential for  mining-related carbon removal. The creation of a CDR hub at the Renard operation will allow suppliers like Arca, Exterra and Aquarry the opportunity to pilot and implement projects, proving their operational feasibility and scale.
