Arca selects Isometric as the registry for Microsoft offtake agreement

Nearly 300,000 tonnes of durable carbon removal to be delivered over the next decade

Chief Commercial Officer

Arca has selected Isometric as the registry for its carbon dioxide removal (CDR) offtake with Microsoft, which will deliver nearly 300,000 tonnes of durable CDR over the next ten years.

This offtake marks an important step forward in scaling mineralization as a carbon removal pathway and highlights the growing demand for high-quality, scientifically rigorous CDR.

Arca’s approach accelerates natural carbon mineralization by leveraging existing industrial infrastructure and repurposing alkaline waste streams to permanently remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and store it as stable carbonate minerals. Its first commercial projects will utilise byproducts from the mining industry, including waste rock and mine tailings.

All credits delivered under the offtake will be issued in accordance with Open System Ex-Situ Mineralization Protocol—the world’s first protocol for durable CDR designed for the mining industry. All measurement, reporting, and verification (MRV) data will be managed through Isometric Certify.

Scaling carbon removal responsibly and fast requires scientific rigour, transparency, and robust MRV. This offtake represents another step toward that goal.
