LCA is the practice of analyzing the carbon stored and emitted for a process or product. High quality LCA is critical to verifying carbon removal: it is required to understand a project’s total impact on greenhouse gases within the earth’s atmosphere.
Preparing an LCA for a project involves collecting activity data across supply chains, then quantifying the emissions associated with them. For example, this can include understanding feedstock production, transportation logistics, and energy use by facilities. It can be difficult to know how to get started with this data, as there are multiple standards and existing LCA tools aren’t built with the unique requirements of carbon removal accounting in mind. For many suppliers, the process takes months and requires hiring expensive consultants that can cost tens of thousands of dollars.
With Certify’s LCA Builder, suppliers can get started with a single click to use pre-built LCA templates that they can easily adapt to their project. These flexible templates capture what’s needed to be compliant with Isometric protocols, so suppliers can be confident that their calculations are reported correctly and take into account all emissions required by Isometric.
