InPlanet selects Isometric as the registry for Microsoft offtake agreement

28,500 tonnes of durable carbon removal to be delivered between 2026 and 2028

InPlanet has selected Isometric as the registry for its carbon dioxide removal (CDR) offtake agreement with Microsoft, which will deliver 28,500 tonnes of Enhanced Weathering (EW) CDR between 2026 and 2028.

In EW, finely ground rock powder is applied to agricultural fields, where it reacts with carbon dioxide dissolved in rainwater to form stable bicarbonate ions. These ions are then carried by rivers and streams to the ocean, where the carbon is stored for thousands of years.

In addition to removing carbon from the atmosphere, EW can enhance soil quality by increasing nutrient densities and balancing pH, supporting stronger crop yields.

All credits delivered under this offtake will be issued in accordance with Isometric’s Enhanced Weathering in Agriculture Protocol, with measurement, reporting, and verification (MRV) data managed through Isometric Certify.

This milestone offtake builds on Isometric’s issuance of the world’s first verified EW credits to InPlanet’s Serra da Mantiqueira project in December 2024, underscoring the growing demand for high-quality, scientifically rigorous carbon removal credits.
