Isometric's Agroforestry Protocol has been approved by the Integrity Council for the Voluntary Carbon Market (ICVCM) to issue certificates with the Core Carbon Principles (CCP) label.
This is the first dedicated Agroforestry protocol to receive CCP approval. It is also Isometric's ninth ICVCM-approved carbon removal protocol, the most of any certifier, and the third in the Isometric Biosphere portfolio, following the Reforestation Protocol and the Mangrove Restoration Protocol.
Agroforestry encompasses a range of techniques that bring trees into farming systems, with the potential to remove up to 310 million tonnes of carbon dioxide a year. These include silvopasture, which integrates trees into grazing land; alley cropping, which grows crops between rows of trees or shrubs; orchards; windbreaks; and riparian buffers along rivers and streams.
Beyond carbon removal, Agroforestry increases local climate resilience, strengthens food security, improves soil and water conservation, and creates new income streams for local communities.
The approval follows an independent assessment by ICVCM, which confirmed the protocol meets all ten CCPs, including permanence, additionality, transparency, independent verification, and robust quantification.
All certificates issued under v1.0 of the protocol, to suppliers like 3T and FCF India, are now eligible to carry the CCP label, one of the market's clearest independent signals of quality.
